Basic Vocabulary Improvements For Success

In Misc, Optimize Your Brain and Body, Personal Growth, Quicknotes

Brief: Many years ago I worked with a Neuro-linguistic programmer who trained (aka re-programmed) me to change a few words in my vocabulary. I’ll share with you a few of my personal favourites and then also link a few good articles I found online.

Worry vs Focus: Worry is a very negative word and subconsciously tells your brain to think about something in a negative fashion. Change out “worry” for “focus” and all of a sudden your brain will be conditioned to think of the task in a new way.

Ex: Sorry I can’t meet you for dinner, I am worried I won’t finish my work on time–>  Thanks for the dinner invite, I am focused on completing my work on time – let’s meet another time.

Might vs Will: Maybe doing something leaves room for not doing something. Commit to doing something and do it, whatever it takes.

Ex: I might be able to meet the deadline on Friday –> I will have the work done before Friday’s deadline.

Have to vs Get toEverything you do is an opportunity, you don’t have to do anything. Even if you really don’t feel like doing something, find the positive and vocalize it. As crazy as this sounds just looking at something in a different light can affect your brains perception of the activity.

Ex: I have to go pick up the kids today –> I get to take a bit of stress off of my wife and pick up the kids today!

I found this chart on Extreme Health Radio and like what they have to say!
