Brief: Don’t waste your time doing something you don’t enjoy or that can be done simply by someone else for very little money. Use freelancers to complete work quickly and effectively.
One of the things I hate doing is list building. It is time consuming, mindless work. I recently paid a few hundred dollars to have a freelance list builder do the work for me. As a professional list builder, she was able to do a great job about 100x quicker than me. The amount of time I saved was worth much more than a couple hundred dollars. - Pay a premium for a more experienced, better rated freelancer (You’re still paying much less than the cost of domestic work)
- Ask for a 60 minute sample so that you can see how much work gets done in that time frame as well as set clearer guidelines if need be
- Pay on a per-project basis. If you pay by the hour people will be motivated to work slowly
- Set a firm deadline at the beginning and make sure that the freelancer knows that the work is required by then
